A Shared Resource for the Whole Dental Team.
This platform is designed to support the entire dental team. Prevention doesn’t attract much attention from big business, so we need to take the lead ourselves.
The first video below was created during Covid as a resource for dental students and newly qualified dentists, giving them somewhere to learn, practise, and build confidence. The idea is simple: we improve our collective skill base by sharing the resources we personally find useful—or even better, by demonstrating techniques and approaches we use in our own daily practice.
The second video introduces a different way of learning: teaching one another directly. When we share knowledge within the profession, everyone benefits—and most importantly, so do the people we care for.
Early in Dec 2025 Netflix announced they were buying out Warner Brothers. In 2000 Netflix was failing and tried to get Blockbuster to buy them out, who declined as they looked down on Netflix as an insignificant niche market. We may be niche, but we may not be in 25 years time. 😁🤞

While this relates to the UK, but this is from the eyes of a dentist reflecting on how we can help one another but by engaing the whole team, and thinking outside the Box. In many ways, we are like the American Marines from World War Two trying to deliver a first class service with little support or encouragement from the Top Brass.

I started following two enthusiastic hygienists who run a podcast called Dentistry Gone Wild. Their passion for the profession was obvious, and their commitment to promoting better care really struck me. I joined their group, then their association, American Mobile and Teledentistry Alliance—both free—and quickly realised they had far more hands-on experience than I did in delivering care in homes and schools. I’ve learned a great deal from them.
During an AMTA webinar, there was a brief mention of SDF improving gum health. What caught my attention was that there is currently no research on the effect of SDF on the gingivae. The only reason the idea seems plausible is because SDF has been used safely, and without significant side effects, for more than 70 years in Japan. It’s inexpensive, out of licence, and therefore of little interest to pharmaceutical companies—despite its potential.
In February 2025, I travelled to Portland and delivered my first-ever lecture on the subject.

If you have any before-and-after photos of treating cervical caries, please send them to me. You may already be holding the evidence needed to support government funding for dental teams to help reduce pneumonias in care homes.
